VoIP Softphone
United World Telecom is delighted to offer its new VoIP Softphone service. If you have internet access, a sound card, and a headset (including microphone) you can now use your personal computer to make international calls to any phone in the world via PC-to-Phone VoIP. This service is best for broadband users, but it will work over a 56k dial up connection as long as the upload/download speed is at least 33K or higher.
How Does It Work?
Calls begin from your computer - on which the Softphone software is installed. When your account is approved and activated, you will receive an E-mail that includes instructions for downloading and setting up the free Softphone software.
After logging onto your account, you then dial the destination number on the keypad. To dial the U.S., Canada, and the Carribean, you simply enter 1 + the number followed by the # key. To dial elsewhere in the world, you would enter 011 + country code + the number followed by the # key. The computer sends information via the Internet to our global network and generates a call to the phone number that the user intends to reach.
System Requirements In order to use the Softphone, a computer must meet the following system requirements:
*PC running Windows 98, 2000, Vista
*Dial Up (download speed at least 33K or higher) or broadband Internet connection (broadband recommended for best results)
*Sound Card, speakers and microphone
